The Port Authority is building the wrong Bus Terminal in New York. The terminal the Port Authority is building is not being built for the 21st Century. Back-building as necessary, the Port Authority and New Jersey Transit must halt current plans immediately and shift gears immediately to build a Bogata, Columbia-type all-electric mega bus system to serve the interests of Northern New Jersey and New York. One tube of the Lincoln Tunnel could be dedicated exclusively for right-sized mega buses during peak commuter hours. Three or four Park-and-Ride feeder locations would be built in Northern New Jersey as transfer points for boarding mega buses to New York. Major benefits of mega bus system/mega bus-only Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York would be 1) far greater/faster traffic flow through Northern New Jersey and Lincoln Tunnel 2) likely significant climate benefits 3) likely significant potential commercial benefits / new opportunities in Northern New Jersey.
