Real ID is already the gold standard for driver’s licenses.
Enhanced with additional protections, as U.S. Representative I would propose broadly expanding the use of Real ID.
Real ID can be the glue that 1) helps assure America remains a true democracy by significantly removing voter ID and voting manipulation as an issue 2) helps secure our borders and allows for fair and straightforward implementation of immigration, naturalization, visa and related employment laws and regulations 3) that promotes advanced healthcare systems and recordkeeping systems leading to far better management of healthcare, not the least of which will be the cost efficiencies implementing superior systems entail 4) that can undergird uniform and fair federal firearms licensure and control to improve safety in our neighborhoods and throughout America and 5) much more.
Specifically for voting, establish federal Real ID with enhanced safety protections as national voter ID card. Adopt Real ID as law for voting in federal elections by target date in the early 2030’s or when 85% – 95% of citizens have Real ID.
